I bought the robot in the fall of 2008 - it was a used demo model that cost me $2600, plus tax. The robot comes with a backup set of foam wheels (used), and the extra long extension cord, so you can put the controller on the table right by the net. There is/was some minor damage that I repaired, and one of the springs to feed the balls into the hopper is missing, and probably available from TTMatic. They offer support/parts and consumables, like the wheels. The net is in great shape. Despite it's age, it's only seen minor usage, and I think it's in pretty good condition. I am hoping to sell it for $2000, or best offer." For more information and images contact Stephen at: sbcwylie@yahoo.com. 2013/01/06 World Championship of Ping Pong Using traditional sandpaper hardbats, the World Championship of Ping Pong, a 2-day tournament with a $100,000 prize fund taking place in London, January 5 & 6, is a throwback to the early days of table tennis. With $20,000 handed to the winner and 19 nations represented (no Canadians!), spectators can expect a fierce competition. With each competitor using specially commissioned traditional sandpaper hardbats rather than the sponge bats used in regular table tennis, the tournament will be more about skill, power and accuracy than spin. Follow the action here and watch for it coming to your TV screen soon. How about a hardbat tournament of our own on the Island? 2013/01/05 Rules Of The Game: Serving Order In Doubles There is often confusion as to who should be serving/receiving in the second and subsequent games of a doubles match. For each game the serving side always has the right to choose the server; the receiver being the player that previously served to the chosen server. In the last possible game of a doubles match the pair due to receive next shall change their order of receiving when one pair reaches 5 points. A link to the latest ITTF rules can be found here. 2013/01/04 Video Reviews Of The New Plastic Ball Two of three video reviews of the new plastic ball, scheduled to be introduced in 2014, have now been posted at OOAK Reviews: part 1, "Why the change and a comparison of their physical appearance" and part 2 "High speed filming of tests to compare relative rebound speed, bounce and spin."
